Types of Mailboxes

Although the invention of mobile phone and email greatly reduces the usage of mail, the mailboxes business still runs greatly in the world. Worldwide postal service still use this method to send physical mail and credit card invoices in some countries. Some documents or even money are delivered using the postal service. This makes the mailboxes business survives in the high-tech world.

Mailbox is a receptacle to receive and collect incoming mail. It is usually placed in the front side of the house, or cut through the middle or lower part of the door. Some wall mount mailbox is hanged in the wall, which the delivery compartment can be accessed by the resident in the opposite side of the wall. In some rural and suburban places, the society may utilize the usage of curbside mailboxes, which consist of a large metal box mounted on iron support, which is used to receive large quantities of mails. Many in U.S. and Canada, rural curbside mailboxes are grouped together on intersections and boundaries. This should ease the job of the postal service.

In later development, USPS designed locking curbside mail boxes to prevent the mail and identity theft. The incoming mail is placed into the slot, where it drops into secure container to be retrieve by the homeowner with the key or combination of the lock. The usage of cluster mailboxes in the apartments is becoming more and more popular with the many development of apartment buildings. This centralized packages and mail compartment is used to contain the mail and package delivery for the entire building residents, instead of door-to-door curbside delivery. Each resident will have their own locker, and can be opened with his/her own particular keys.
