Mailboxes as Communication Devices

We use letter much to deliver a message or a memo for a certain person. Although some of its usages in these days are taken over by email, letter is still used in many areas of the world. Many houses place a letter box in the front door, usually horizontal but sometimes vertical, with dimension about 30 cm x 5 cm, placed in the middle or lower half of a door. Very commonly found in British, but in United States, usually found in older neighborhood. Commercial mailboxes can be placed in front of the house, for containing the letters and even packages.

In some areas, we sometimes found centralized mailboxes for one neighborhood, which is called cluster mailboxes, to contain memo letters, or packages for each member of the neighborhood from external party.  The cluster mailboxes need an individual locks to keep the privacy and sender identity safety . There are many commercial mailboxes for sale, we must consider our budget, the number of employees, and the usages.

For the owner of a place of apartment, usually letters are posted in one centralized place, in apartment mailboxes, which can be collected by the supervisors, and then sent to the respected recipients in the apartments. Or in the other way, each apartment owner can access the respective mailbox number, and get their letter or package by using particular lock system. This can decrease the number of identity theft and mailbox vandalism.
